Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

EDUCHILD Journal of Early Childhood Education adheres to international practices of preventing plagiarism. Since the second edition, EDUCHILD Journal uses a cross-check system for plagiarism (TURNITIN). Therefore, all authors submitting manuscripts must ensure their academic work respects the copyrights of other scholars and avoids any form of plagiarism.

Once a manuscript is submitted, our editorial team assigns a group of anti-plagiarism members to screen the manuscript using various tools. For similarity percentages between 20–25%, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for clarification and necessary revisions before peer review. If the similarity exceeds 25%, the manuscript will be rejected outright.

Indicators of Plagiarism

  1. Direct repetition: Copying another author’s work—words, sentences, or paragraphs—without citing the original source. This is easily detected by plagiarism checker software.
  2. Substantial reproduction: Reproducing a significant portion of another writer’s work without citation. “Substance” here refers to both quantity and quality of ideas, which may violate intellectual property rights.
  3. Uncited paraphrasing: Using ideas, words, or phrases in paraphrased form without citing the original source. This type of plagiarism is often undetectable by software but remains unethical if the original author is not acknowledged.
