“Islamic thought was born to answer the anxiety over the reality faced by an intellectual. Ahmad an-Na'im is a figure who emerged from anxiety over the reality of Muslims in applying the concepts of shari'ah and state. This article uses exploratory analysis, an-Na'im's ideas about the Qur'an will be the focus of the study. The Qur'an guides human behavior and morality, it is not a textual narrative about law. This becomes the paradigm of al-Qur'an, al-Qur'an as reading for reality. Al-Qur'an's conception in looking at the reality of makki-madani makes the term nask-mansukh not abolition, but the temporary delay in verse enforcement. The verse makkiyah aspect can be postponed and replaced with aspects in the madaniyah verse. Al-Qur'an is not a book that because of its contradictory verses makes people lazy to think..â€
