Abstrak

Abstract

Elections are an important means of choosing leaders in a modern democratic system. Islam provides moral and ethical guidance regarding this process, as reflected in the QS. An-Nisa: 58 and hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This article analyzes relevant Islamic principles, such as trust, competence, justice, and obedience to Ulil Amri. Tafsir Mahmud An-Nasafi emphasizes that the mandate in QS. An-Nisa: 58 involves the responsibility to hand over leadership to those who are entitled, namely those who are competent. In addition, this article highlights the importance of participation in elections, the prohibition on abstention, and the dangers of choosing leaders without considering competence, which can lead to moral and religious losses. Political ethics, such as respecting differences in choices and maintaining post-election friendships, are also discussed. This article concludes that choosing leaders is the mandate of every Muslim to ensure just and competent leadership, in accordance with the values of the Koran and Sunnah
