This study investigates the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) tools into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Tangerang, focusing on pedagogical strategies, infrastructural challenges, and the preservation of student character building. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, empirical data were collected through semi-structured interviews with PAI educators and school administrators, systematic classroom observations, and relevant institutional document analysis. The findings reveal that interactive digital media and AI applications effectively translate abstract religious concepts into engaging visual content, thereby transforming traditional classroom dynamics into a more student-centered learning environment. Technical constraints, such as limited hardware availability and potential device-induced distractions, are successfully mitigated through flexible classroom management strategies and established digital etiquette, ensuring that routine worship practices remain uncompromised. Crucially, the study highlights that while digital tools enhance instructional delivery, the moral leadership and exemplary conduct of teachers remain the primary anchor for students' character formation. This research concludes that the digitalization of Islamic education depends heavily on a balanced socio-technical approach, where technological adoption is harmonized with pedagogical maturity. Ultimately, sustainable implementation requires continuous institutional policy support and ongoing professional development to foster an innovative yet ethically grounded learning ecosystem.
